Cincinnati City Hall is a registered historic building in Cincinnati, Ohio, listed in the National Register on December 11, 1972.
The main building comprises four and a half stories with a nine story clock tower. An optical trick known as forced perspective makes the building appear even larger than it actually is. As it becomes taller, its windows get smaller.
The building was constructed by the David Hummel company of Cincinnati using stone quarried in Wisconsin, Ohio, Missouri, and Indiana. Marble stairways and wainscoting originated in Italy and Tennessee, while granite columns were obtained from Vermont. Stained glass windows were installed which depict Cincinnatus and illustrate Cincinnati’s early history. A granite statue of Jesus was contributed by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati in 1864 and displayed in the alcove on the south side of the building until 2003.
When people think of Park City, winter sports and the “Greatest Snow on Earth” are usually the first things that come to mind. What most don’t realize is that Park City has as much to do in the summer as in the winter, if not more. The hard part is choosing which activities to do if you have a limited amount of time.
Winter skiing is not the only sport for those seeking adventure in Park City. To start, the resorts are home to world renowned mountain bike trails. Deer Valley hosts downhill races during the summer for all skill levels, although most people come to watch the experts attempt the challenging single tracks. If mountain biking does not appeal, there are many other ways to get adrenaline pumping, including rock climbing and river rafting.
Park City does not just cater to outdoor sports enthusiasts. Family friendly activities can be encountered around every corner with Park City Mountain Resort leading the way. Their alpine slide and zip line are just a couple of examples of exciting rides for both adults and kids. They also have recreation at the base, including a climbing wall, a human maze, and mini-golf.
For those who would like to have an experience unique to the area, Utah Olympic Park can give visitors a taste of what it would be like as a bobsled Olympian. The bobsled track at the Park is open to the public, and an expert will steer the sleds up to 70 miles per hour down the track. The Olympic Park also has a freestyle aerial splash pool, where Olympians practice flying over 50 feet in the air. Visitors can watch shows they will put on, or can even participate in aerial camps.
Park City hosts a number of events throughout the summer, including the Kimball Arts Festival in August, which unites artists from all over the country to sell their wares to crowds wandering Main Street. Music aficionados can get their fill at the Park City Jazz Festival with its multiple stages and world famous musicians. Another delight for the senses is the Park City Food and Wine Festival, which features fine wines and food from local restaurants.
On an every day basis, Park City possesses enough dining options to satisfy any palette. Various international foods, as well as classic American fare, can be found throughout town. Whether it’s fine dining in an award winning Continental restaurant in Deer Valley, or having a casual meal in a bistro on Main Street, it would be difficult to sample all that Park City has to offer in just one trip.
Shopping in Park City is something that everyone can enjoy doing, and a great way to interact with locals. There are plenty of shops that specialize in outfitting those who come to Park City for the sports. Main Street is also lined with boutiques, souvenir shops, and art galleries all offering temptations.
Only coming to Park City for the world famous snow would mean missing out on the other half of what makes it so special. When visitors do venture out in the summer, they learn firsthand what keeps people year round. Ask any local who moved out for one winter, but has ended up living in the area the best way to sum up Park City, and they are likely to pass on a popular local saying: “You come for the winter, but stay for the summer.

Berlin – Brandenburger Tor 04
The Brandenburg Gate (Brandenburger Tor) is a former city gate and one of the main symbols of Berlin and Germany. It is located west of the city center at the junction of Unter den Linden and Ebertstraße, immediately west of the Pariser Platz. It is the only remaining gate of a series through which Berlin was once entered. One block to the north stands the Reichstag building. The gate is the monumental entry to "Unter den Linden", the renowned boulevard of linden trees which formerly led directly to the city palace of the Prussian monarchs. It was commissioned by King Frederick William II of Prussia as a sign of peace and built by Carl Gotthard Langhans from 1788 to 1791. Having suffered considerable damage in World War II, the Brandenburg Gate was fully restored from 2000 to 2002 by the Berlin Monument Conservation Foundation. Today, it is regarded as one of Europe’s most famous landmarks.

Stockholm is the center of Scandinavian culture and the focal point of innovative design and originality which provides the city with a vibe that’s stimulating and fresh. There’s plenty to maintain your interest, seeing as it’s essentially a town it’s easy to feel comfortable here particularly with the broad variety of accommodation choices available.
If arriving by scheduled flight then the odds are you’ll fly into Stockholm’s main airport, Arlanda, from there take the Arlanda Express train into the city centre which only takes about 20 minutes and is quite expensive but quick and easy. Coming into the country on a budget airline you’ll end up at Skavsta or Vasteras Airport, from here to the centre it’s at least an hour by transfer bus.
The biggest city in Sweden it’s still small enough to take in the main sights and attractions by foot if you want to. It’s not particularly cheap either although there are ways to save the pennies. Some people hire small motorbikes and explore further afield hopping from one island to another by connecting bridges. Cycling is also safe here as car drivers behave responsibly towards cyclists and pedestrians and in most areas there are separate cycle tracks.
If you have a hectic travel schedule or don’t like to walk a lot then the public transport system is efficient, fast and affordable, pick up timetables, information and a transport map in the SL-Center inside T-Centralen. The T-bana is the subway system and accesses most of the downtown areas; it runs late to accommodate people going home after the bars close. There are about 100 stations and three major lines that service the suburbs and most attractions can be reached by tunnelbana.
The bus service is efficient too, although not as fast as the metro, they have special bus tracks on many of the roads and you have the views of the passing city streets then too. The coupon system can be used on both the bus and the metro, a cheap way to get around on vacation if you’re planning on sightseeing all over the city. Buy them on the bus, at metro and railway stations and offices of Storstockholms Lokaltrafik.
Take a tour on the open top double-decker buses as it’s the best way to see the city’s main sights and they have individual headphones so you can choose which language to listen in. The Hop-On-Hop-Off ticket allows you to get on and off at any of the 14 designated points to explore and you simply use the same ticket over a period of 24 hours. All the main city centre sights are included on a circuitous route including Sweden House, Fjaderholm and Djurgarden Boat pier, Vasa Museum, Skansen, Djurgardsbron and lots more.
There’s also a Stockholm Card you can buy whereby you can use SL buses, metros and trains as much as you like over a set number of days, as well as getting free or discounted access to some museums and popular sights.
Boat sightseeing tours are popular and an alternative way to see the Swedish capital, using the same principle as the bus you can hop on and off at any number of the bridges and it’s a really relaxing and romantic way to experience the city.
Rent a car if you prefer to be totally independent as roads are safe and driver’s stick to the rules. Perfect for exploring around the region venture farther out to Uppsala, Goteborg, or even to Oslo, finding a rental vehicle is both easy and economical. Taxis can be costly and you should only catch one if there is no other choice, coming from the airport at an ungodly hour for example, and then ensure it’s a registered cab, otherwise the public transport system is efficient enough to get around.
Mathieu Quintart writes articles about Cocoon Stockholm, is the online agency for you who are looking for Stockholm Apartment, offering visitors the best and most comfortable accommodations, such as Luxury Apartments Stockholm and Budget Apartment Stockholm at great prices.
Antwerpen BE – Antwerpen-Centraal – Anvers-Central 05
Antwerpen-Centraal (Antwerp Central) is the name of the main railway station in the Belgian city of Antwerp. The station is operated by the national railway company NMBS.
The original station building was constructed between 1895 and 1905 as a replacement for the original terminus of the Brussels-Mechelen-Antwerp Railway. The stone clad terminus buildings, with a vast dome above the waiting room hall were designed by Louis Delacenserie and the vast (185 metres long and 44 metres high) iron and glass trainshed by Clement van Bogaert. The viaduct into the station is also a notable structure designed by local architect Jan Van Asperen.
The station is now widely regarded as the finest example of railway architecture in Belgium, although the extraordinary eclecticism of the influences on Delacenserie’s design had led to a difficulty in assigning it to a particular architectural style. In W. G. Sebald’s novel Austerlitz an ability to appreciate the full range of the styles that might have influenced Delacensiere is used to demonstrate the brilliance of the fictional architectural historian who is the novel’s protagonist.
In 2009 the American magazine Newsweek judged Antwerpen-Centraal the world’s fourth greatest train station.

Copenhagen is one of the most prominent capitals in the world and a city with many varied facets. It is the capital of the world’s oldest monarchy which is still being preserved in Denmark. It also holds the proud position being one of the oldest capitals of Europe.
The history of the city is said to be related to a settlement of more than 6000 years ago but its first written records dates back to 1043 AD. It was originally a fishing village which later went on to become one of the most dazzling capitals of the Danish Empire.
Copenhagen was originally called Havn which literally meant harbor in Danish and most of the people earned their livelihood by fishing. The next few centuries saw the small fishing village turning into a prosperous town with the growth in fishing and trade. This resulted in the town being made the capital of Denmark in 1343 by King Valdmer Atterdag. Today it is the seat of the government and the hometown of the Danish Royal Family.
Prior to the introduction of Christianity, the ancient Nordic religion prevailed in the country. In 1160, Bishop Absalon took over the city as a gift from King Waldemar. This saw tremendous growth of the town. Many churches and abbeys were founded and the Catholic Church ruled for a long time. But in 1536, King Christian III decided to separate the Danish Church from the Roman Catholic Church following a civil war from 1534-36.
Copenhagen is sometimes also referred to as the “City of Spires” due to its horizontal skyline, broken only by the spires at the churches and castles. One of the most distinctive examples of this is the Baroque spire of the Church of Our Savior. This is also one of the most popular destinations for the visitors too. There are some other spires which are also interesting. The Christiansborg Palace, the City Hall and the former Church of St. Nikolai also have beautiful spires. Then there are spires on the Rosenborg Palace and also on the Christian IV’s former stock exchange which is named as the Dragon Spire as it is shaped as the tails of four dragons twined together.
The city of Copenhagen also has the distinction of being one of the most bicycle-friendly cities in the world. There are different paths especially for the bikers which also have their own signal systems and are often separated from the main traffic lanes.
But the most exciting and attractive feature of the city is the Palaces of the Royal family which are spread around the city. This is one of the most popular tourist spot and attracts a large crowd. There are main four palaces which are a must see for anyone visiting Copenhagen.
Palaces of Copenhagen:
Amalienborg Palace is the residence of the Queen and her family. The Royal Palace, in fact, is not one but a collection of four palaces which flank a square. The four palaces were built by four noble families on the orders of King Fredrik V. The royal family moved to the four palaces in 1794 which is considered to be one of the architectural masterpieces in Europe. There is a statue in the middle of the square which has been sculpted by the French sculptor Saly. The visitors can also see the change of guards in the courtyard every afternoon. When the Queen resides here, she flies her colors with the royal coat of arms.
Christiansborg Palace is the most significant building in Denmark. It is the center of the Danish democracy as the seat of the Folketinget (The Danish Parliament), the Supreme Court, the Prime Minister’s Office and the Royal Reception Rooms. The Palace is situated in the small Slotsholmen, the Palace Island. This palace dates back its origins to thousand years back when the Archbishop Absalon stayed here. It has been a site for parliament and sovereigns since then.
Frederiksberg Palace was built as a summer palace by the Crown Prince Frederik in 1699. Then when he became the King, he built a bigger palace in 1709. The King was so much in love with this palace that he hardly ever visited Copenhagen, which is a mere short distance from this place. The interiors of the palace are very well preserved and many of the rooms have been kept in the same condition as during the times of King Frederik V. The palace Church dates back to 1734. The park surrounding the palace is one of the most beautiful spaces in the Northern Europe.
Rosenborg Palace was built by King Christian IV in the beginning of the seventeenth century. He had planned to build a garden but impressed with the new trends of other European courts he decided to build a summer residence in the form of Rosenborg. The Rosenborg Park is one of the most popular destinations for the locals as well as visitors.
The main attraction in the Rosenborg Palace is the display of the Crown Jewels and the Crown regalia which are part of the Royal Danish Chronological Collections which also includes the paintings, chinaware as well as silver.
Thus this very green and one of the most beautiful cities in the world is a haven for the visitors with its rich cultural heritage and the inherent warmth and hospitality.

Roode Steen is the historical locale of the city’s cheese market. The name, meaning "red stone", has its origins in the bloody executions that took place here centuries ago.
Hoorn’s many historic buildings form a spectacular backdrop to the art and culture of today. There are 365 Grade I listed buildings – one for every day of the year – placing Hoorn in third place on the Netherlands’ league table of historic cities (after Amsterdam and Haarlem). The many historic monuments include buildings on the two oldest public squares in the town, Roode Steen and Kerkplein.
One’s eye is immediately drawn to the colourful lions and crests which adorn the facade of the Statencollege, built in 1632. The building has housed Westfries Museum since 1880.
Tthe Museum houses much of the region’s cultural heritage from the ‘Golden Century’.
The square statue is Jan Pieterszoon Coen Governor-general of the Dutch East Indies Company from 1619 until 1629.
